The Team
Luke Giles, Pastor
Luke joined the team as the Senior Pastor in August 2022, coming from another local church where he served for twenty years. His passion is to teach and equip believers to faithfully follow and serve Jesus as their King as they walk in obedience to His Word. A graduate from George Whitefield College, he also holds a Master’s degree from Oak Hill College (London, UK). He is married to Niki who works in the Financial Services industry, and they have two sons, both young adults. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, eating good food and going fishing.
Daleen Griesel, Family Ministries Worker
Daleen is passionate about guiding children, teens, and families in their faith journey. She holds a Master of Divinity (2015) from the University of the Free State and recently obtained her teaching qualification through Cornerstone Institute. She and her husband Jake have been serving at SCC since August 2023. In her free time, you’ll find her petting animals, walking with her husband, analysing movies, or spending time at the family farm in the Free State.
Hannah Wyatt, Family Ministries Intern
Hannah is working part time at SCC, primarily involved in Kids, Youth, and Young Adult ministries, while working on her degree in theology. She loves planning and is passionate about helping others to know the abundant life Jesus brings. In her free time she enjoys the outdoors, milkshakes and music.
Tamlyn Cronje, Administration
Tamlyn works part time helping with the administration and rostering of our church life. Tamlyn holds a degree in Theology, majoring in Christian Counselling. She completed her degree and honours in Psychology, having worked with special needs children at St Joseph’s Marist College. She currently facilitates in the classroom where scholars need focused attention. In her spare time, she loves anything creative, reading or exercise related.
Alison Simpson, Pastoral Care
Having completed her career in banking, Alison completed the Explore Course through George Whitefield College which unlocked a keen interest in theology and is currently reading for a Theology Degree through the Bible Institute of South Africa in Kalk Bay. She joined the ministry team as a part time volunteer and assists us with pastoral care and special events. She enjoys being in the bush and the well-being of people and animals is very close to her heart.
Volunteers
We also have a team of lay ministry co-ordinators who guide and direct several of our ministry departments. And, of course, we have a whole church who actively serve in every area of the church ensuring our ministries and church life run smoothly.
Trainees
SCC is committed to developing and training the next generation of gospel workers to serve both locally and further afield. To that end, we partner local Bible Colleges in giving students ministry opportunity and ministry training while preparing them to serve in accordance with their gifts and calling. From time to time, we invite these students, once graduated, to join the staff in a trainee position to further equip them before they pursue ordained ministry or mission work.
